Flash Hero Flash Hero

Rated 5 / 5 stars March 13, 2008

Excellent.

You've really got a brilliant concept here - even though I have a top-extended keyboard (extra junk above the F buttons and whatnot), it still felt very similar to the format of the Guitar Hero controller, and for that alone you deserve praise. However, the inclusion of three varied difficulties and an equally varied soundtrack only adds to the prestige of this game. I had just one gripe, however tiny - 5-6 (orange-purple) chords don't work! And trust me, I tried them time after time, even ignoring the notes around them... if nobody else has this problem, shoot me, but getting through the chorus on the Zelda song was a chore when every tenth note just wouldn't work!

That aside, I'd like to reiterate how awesome the game is. Its simplicity, coupled with the raw ingenuity you brought to the table, makes it a stunner! Can't wait for the sequel. Keep up the great work.

I can't... stop... watching!!

It doesn't matter if you don't get any of the "inside jokes" mentioned by the author, this is still a great music video and the song is just damn addicting. I watch this every time I open Newgrounds and probably will for awhile to come.

FFVI - Who Is Gogo? FFVI - Who Is Gogo?

Rated 5 / 5 stars January 7, 2008

That. Was. Amazing.

Hands down, this is the very best Final Fantasy XI ANYTHING. Period. FF6 was (and still is) my favorite game of all time, and you certainly did it justice. You even had a bonus scene with all the reject characters that nobody ever uses! Hooray! Alien Hominid as Gogo was just vague and neutral enough to not make anybody angry... as making him Gestahl or Rachel or somebody else would've. Great animation, and despite what other people are saying, I'm glad there was no voice acting, keeping it true to the game.

My favorite joke? Celes carrying all the items.

Excellent!

I laughed, I laughed, I laughed. Though brief, it was nothing short of hilarious.

Wow.

For the first installation in a series, you really hit the mark. Everything from the text speed to the credits music was great. The only thing that threw me off was the dancing banana. Sure, he's funny, but he had no place with the bob-ombs. Anyway, I look forward to watching the rest of your series.

Necrophilia FTW.

Why such a high overall, you ask? Well, even though none of the components of this piece were too impressive on their own, it was one of those rare instances where they truly all come together to make something really good. The theme was spot-on, the punch lines were there, and the execution was great. Good job.

Hehe.

At first it was kind of a letdown that [insert plot spoiler here], but I love The Turtles and your fantasy scenes made me laugh. Good job.

Excellent.

The music made me think of the factory in Final Fantasy 6; the visuals made me think of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman". Overall, a great work with an intriguing message.

...

Ever played Ball Revamped? You know, the game that's exactly like this, only more difficult and with better graphics and that has about five sequels? Yeah. Oh, and enough with the "spawn-killing" blocks, I hate dying when I don't even know that a block is right beneath me yet. Maybe hit the spacebar to start a level. Get some more features, some better visuals, and make the music work on the last level of each world.

Still a huge fan...

I only had one problem with this (great) episode: some of the backdrops were a bit too simple, especially the hallway that the ghost, sergeant, and the other marine pass through on their way back to the hangar (where the tank blasts through the wall). Also, I love that your characters aren't immortal, e.g. Blair and General Matheson, that adds a lot to the story. Another great addition to a great series, keep it up.

LogFish responds:

Thanks! I guess I'll work on BG's and gore and smoothness of animation more in the next one. Maybe I should crank the framerate up once I have the new PC...
